I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern serving clients of all ages and couples. I help my clients cope with the challenges and changes that life brings by working together to identify and achieve goals. I counsel from the assumption that each client knows within themselves what it is they need and want. However, that knowledge may be buried under years of stress, low self-esteem, expectations of others, disappointment, trauma, or mental illness. My job is to listen to you, and in turn, help you to listen to yourself.
I have experience using child-centered therapy for children and the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. In all aspects of my counseling, I teach mindfulness as a way of life, helping my clients pay attention to their own experiences, emotions, and desires.
I have experience treating children, teens, adults, and couples using these techniques for a variety of concerns, such as: relationship difficulties, child behavior challenges, low self-esteem, explorations of personality, spiritual concerns, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and the depression and anxiety that often accompany so many of life’s challenges.
My family and I have lived in East Texas and Tyler for fourteen years. Most recently, I have been a middle and high school math teacher in the Tyler ISD school district. I have also worked as an overseas missionary and executive director of a youth camp. My leisure activities include long-distance cycling; my kids’ activities of track, soccer, and theatre; camping and travel; music, reading, and movies.
